The problems of waste administration which Romania confronts in general and Iasi city specially , have a major impact to the society, representing a direct threat towards the population health, with an adverse effect to the quality of life and a negative influence regarding the people’s rights to live in a healthy and clean environment.
The National Plan and Regional Plan of Waste Administration define the measures needed to protect the environment and to make the waste management more efficient, establishing prerogatives and precise terms to the local public authorities in order to take measures regarding the interruption of storing waste inside the present locations and starting the final closing works.
In such context, the necessity of constructing a new landfill waste for Iasi city domestic waste came out, followed later on with the extension of the metropolitan area.

Requirements for realizing the project are:
1. Obeying and applying national legislation regulations, which are according to legislation of UE.
2. The necessity of closing the actual landfill waste.
3. The necessity of constructing and ensuring the functionality of the new landfill waste in accordance with environmental and legal regulations.
4. The necessity for modernization of the waste administration system and reclaiming the reusable waste.
5. The will of the local authorities to ensure a healthy and clean environment for the inhabitants of Iasi city.

The project “INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT FROM IASI CITY” consists of the next general works:
 1. Component A1. Closing the existent landfill waste located in Tomesti
 2. Component A2. New landfill waste located in Tutora
   A2.1. Storing cell (compartment) 1
   A2.2. Services area

 3. Component B. Compost and sorting station Tutora
 

SC IRIDEX GROUP CONSTRUCTII – has the next objectives from this project:
 1. Component A1 – System of closing Tomesti landfill waste
 2. Component A2. – Tutora landfill waste lining
  -Leachate drainage system of Tutora landfill waste.

Area:
1680.000 sqm, Tomesti landfill waste
160.000 sqm, Tutora landfill waste

For Tomesti old landfill waste we will use:
- AS 4500S bentonite geocomposite
- FABRINET STE B120 geotextile

For Tutora new landfill waste we use:
- GCL AS 4500S bentonite geocomposite
- GSE 2mm geomembrane.
- GTX-B40 geotextile
