Geocomposites for asphalt reinforcement Geocomposites are used to increase the working life for pavements, impeding the transmission of the cracks in the upper layers.
There are two different types of geocomposites for asphalt reinforcement:
1.Geocomposites consisting of a geogrid and a geotextile especially manufactured on this purpose. The two components are thermally bonded and form a lusty material, easy to install. The geogrid with rigid nodes is suitable to increase the pavements’ endurance from weak subgrades, reducing the appearance of wheel tracks and ensuring the control of the reflection cracks. This material is used to reinforce the covering layers with a minimum thickness of 70 mm.
2.Geocomposites consisting of a glass fibers netting fixed on a non-woven geotextile. Are used to reinforce covering layers with a minimum thickness of 40 mm. This geocomposite is suitable to absorb loads on a long term such as that caused of cycles freeze/ thaw and tensiles induced by temperature.
Both products are excellent to reinforce protection layers placed above the: -concrete slabs’ joints -stabilized ballast foundation -flight paths and lateral access roads -pavements already cracked.
