The Romanian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs recently awarded with ARACO Quality Trophy for the quality of construction works realized last year by construction Entrepreneurs.

Iridex Group Constructii has been awarded with ARACO 2009 Quality Trophy for "Closing the quarry from Slanic Nord (Arges) and bringing it according to environmental protection regulations".

Slanic Nord mining exploitation perimeter, having a surface of 38ha and a depth of 165m, is located inside Schitul Golesti exploitation perimeter.

After exploitation activity ceased, negative phenomena increased: definitive degrading taluses of micro-quarry, the slide of interior waste dump along the valley bed adjacent to Arsuri with the destruction of 5 households and with the endangering of 7 private properties.

Complex works executed for establishing earth sliding and environment integration of the area, stage 3, comprised of:

-horizontal guided drilling at the north zone of quarry.

-downstream connection for regularization

-drain prism of stone with 33m length and 3m wide

-arrangement and environment integration of quarry areas

-execution of guard channel in the north and east side of quarry

-collecting channels of surface waters

-drain for directing quarry waters towards drain 21

-arranging of road through the Valea tigancii stream bed for access to drain 21

-arranging terrain debris previously laid onto Slanic stream bed

Depth drilling works have been realized of 300mm diameter for subterranean water collection and surface drainage through open stone paved channels.
Arrangement of terrain surface affected by sliding and also the quarry, with a double purpose: creating a stable, accessible surface, which allows the entrance of machines and earth works with the help of construction and agricultural machines and creating a surface good to rejoin into the economical land circuit.
The hills with steep slopes were consolidated with geosynthetic materials – geocells filled with vegetal soil and planted with grass.
The complex and good quality works made by our company for closing the quarry and integrating the affected surfaces into the environment led to remaking of environmental elements and decreased the risk of other major impact accidents.
